Diagnosing for research using self-administered questionnaires in Central and Eastern Europe

Summary. The Author outlines some difficulties in diagnosing for research (above all clinical research) in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The evaluation scales used by investigators could be compared across CEE and across Europe, while the application of the self-administered questionnaires is challenged by differences. People are still not faced to everyday situations of answering questions on a piece of paper and they still expect the questions to be posed by the doctor; the Author outlines that this practise is not in full compliance to the protocols and suggests some precautions.
